The Resplendent Spears
The Resplendent Spears are a Space Marine chapter founded during the Ultima Founding. The legion is known for its daring acts of heroism and willingness to go above and beyond to protect the citizens of the Imperium- however the truth is far murkier.
The identity of the chapter's genefather is subject to much speculation within the chapter. Most within the chapter believe themselves to be descended from Rogal Dorn. However, known only to Cawl, the chapter was created using Emperor's Children geneseed.
The Resplendent Spears stand steadfast in the face of overwhelming odds. The chapter wants to be seen by the Imperium as the ultimate heroes. They adopt reckless doctrines and flashy fighting styles to win the adoration of their fellow chapters, and the Imperium at large. The Spears take this goal to extremes, willing to do anything to win glory and maintain their heroic perceptions.
To other chapters, the Resplendent Spears are seen as unreliable egomaniacs. Not wanting to be one-upped, the chapter will escalate situations and act recklessly in an attempt to steal the spotlight from their battle brothers. This often makes combat situations far more chaotic and unpredictable. Casualty rates among the spears are above average- and a non-insignificant portion of these deaths are friendly fire from other chapters. Whether this is accidental or intentional collateral is up for debate. Regardless of how the troops on the ground feel, the Spears consistently achieve impressive feats in the face of unlikely odds.
The warriors of the Resplendent Spears suffer from severe insecurity. At its core, the chapter is about appearing heroic at all costs. Their chapter venerates the names and deeds of their most valiant soldiers that fall in the line of duty. On the other hand, those that fail to live up to these standards have their names and deeds discarded, their actions erased from the chapter's history as if they had never existed. There are rumors that the chapter's battle brothers engage in self-sabotage and backstabbing against one another in able to claim their brothers glorious actions for themself.
