Valeri Affins is a secondary ally from Scarlet River. She is a girl plucked from time and thrown into the present day by Apashe to serve as an unwitting minion.
APPEARANCE
[edit | edit source]Valeri is a young girl that looks around ten years old. She has long, ragged brown hair. Her eyes are a deep crimson color- an anomaly induced by Apashe's ability.
Her ragged clothes were scavenged from a nearby dumpster on the night of her arrival. She wears an oversized yellow sweatshirt.
Valeri has a circular birthmark on her left hand that's about the size of a dime. This is a marking used by Apashe to brand his Seven Threads.
PERSONALITY
[edit | edit source]The death of her family and transposition into the modern age has left Valeri severely traumatized. Her limited contact with people of this era have left her afraid of strangers. She doesn't speak to someone unless she fully trusts them.
She relies on her Stand to protect her. If the Stand is defeated she freezes and shuts down mentally.
IN THE CAMPAIGN

[edit | edit source]Valeri was born in the American colonies in the 1600s. She lived a middling life until a smallpox plague swept through her community. Her mother, father, and brother all fell to the disease. Valeri feared it was just a matter of time before the sickness claimed her too. She was only ten years old.
Torn From Her World
[edit | edit source]Suddenly Valeri felt a rush of air, as if her soul was torn from her body. The next thing she remember is regaining consciousness in an alleyway. She had been transposed into the year 2018 by Lord & Master. The city immediately proved to be too overwhelming. Valeri lived in dark alleys where she scavenged food and clothing from dumpsters, and slept in trash piles.
Lean Into the Wind
[edit | edit source]One night Valeri woke to the sounds of footsteps. She tried to run but was ambushed by two deviants intending to kidnap her. As they dragged her through the alleyway, Valeri felt overwhelmed by fear and despair. In that moment, her Stand awakened. With lightning speed, the ghostly reaper grabbed one of the assailants. His soulless husk crumpled to the ground. The second man turned to run. He took three steps before the apparition's clockwork scythe came down and cleaved him in two.
Trembling, Valeri looked up at her Stand. Despite its horrifying appearance, she wasn't afraid of it. The figure was comforting. A guardian angel. For the first time in the year she had been in Osmond, she felt like there was something she could trust.
Returning Home
[edit | edit source]Using their requiem Stands, Sophie Davis and Lenny Brown alter Valeri's fate. They detach her from the present and send her back to the past. She lives a happy life and has no memory of Scarlet River.
